When TAMA first introduced their Sound Lab Project (SLP) at the beginning of 2012, the drumming community took note in a very serious way. It all began with a small collection of rather affordable snare drums. Maple, steel, brass, and aluminum were some of the materials used in the construction of each individual TAMA SLP snare drum. Each drum was constructed according to a unique set of dimensions. This led to the creation of a complete line of different snare drums that were within the price range of every drummer, which led to the rapid expansion of the TAMA SLP line.
